Safety at the Heart of
TRB's Culture

5th Annual Safety Day
, hosted by TRB Réfractaires

After about four months of planning and preparation, TRB organized the5th edition of its Safety Day, a major Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) event. More than 80 employees from the Nesles and Neufchâtel sites, as well as our field teams, took part.

The facilitators of TRB Réfractaires' Safety Day 2026 gathered in their safety gear

The goal was to have a good time together while conveying important health, safety, and environment (HSE) messages. Six interactive workshops provided an opportunity to share experiences, test participants’ knowledge, and reinforce best practices. This initiative illustrates the commitment of the CB Group’s refractory division, for which safety is a daily priority—both in its own workshops and at its customers’ job sites.

Empowering Everyone to Play an Active Role in Safety

The strength of thisfifth edition wasthe involvement of TRB employees in the planning and facilitation. A group of 10 facilitators worked on organizing the event for about four months, with a clear goal: to empower our staff to take an active role in their own safety.

The central theme of the day was our vision of a culture of interdependence. Everyone participated in the activities with kindness and as a group, without thinking only of themselves, so that shared vigilance would become second nature.

"I'm thinking about my safety and that of my colleagues."

6 HSE workshops—
—on the agenda

Divided into teams, the participants took part in six activities, each lasting 20 minutes—a format designed to maintain a lively atmosphere throughout the half-day session.

  • Raising Awareness About Waste Sorting
  • First Aid Procedures and Emergency Phone Numbers
  • Risk Hunting with ROGER
  • Gestures and Postures
  • "How Much Do You Weigh?" Quiz
  • Think Before You Act

Raising Awareness About Waste Sorting

A workshop to review proper waste sorting practices and reinforce the fact that environmental protection is an integral part of our HSE priorities, just like health and safety.

First Aid Procedures and Emergency Phone Numbers

Participants reviewed essential first aid techniques as well as the emergency numbers they need to know, so they can respond quickly and effectively in the event of an accident.

Risk Hunting with ROGER

The teams set out on a risk hunt to identify hazardous situations and poor practices, with the goal of better preventing them in their day-to-day work.

Gestures and Postures

A reminder of the proper techniques and postures to adopt at your workstation to protect your long-term health.

"How Much Do You Weigh?" Quiz

With this team quiz, everyone was able to test their HSE knowledge in a fun atmosphere, assessing their own level of understanding on each topic.

Think Before You Act

Take a few seconds to assess a task before carrying it out. This simple step encourages everyone to anticipate risks and adopt the right approach every time they perform a task.

A mystery word and a 3D-printed trophy

To challenge the teams, a letter was handed out at the end of each activity. The goal was to piece together the mystery word. The first team to come up with the winning word won Safety Day and a trophy designed and 3D-printed in our dedicated facility in Neufchâtel. Everyone got into the spirit of the game, and deciding between the teams wasn’t easy!

Safety Day is also taking place in Dunkirk and Décines

In the same vein, Safety Day was also held for our teams in Dunkirk on Monday, October 19, at the ArcelorMittal site, and for our teams in Décines on the same day at the Décines office.

Thank you, everyone!

A big thank you to the 10 facilitators and all the participants who made this5th edition a success.

This Safety Day gave everyone the opportunity to learn, share ideas, and work together to strengthen our safety culture, which is based on interdependence and shared vigilance.

We can't wait for the 6th annual Safety Day next year!
