Volta Transport and CAPREMIB, river logistics for sustainable development
River transport, an innovative solution for major construction sites
As part of the Seine-Nord Europe Canal project, CAPREMIB - CIBETEC, a specialist in made-to-measure concrete, called on Volta Transport to transport massive bridge slabs using an innovative, sustainable transport solution.
An extraordinary cargo
The slabs transported measured 13 meters long, 2 meters wide and weighed 20 tonnes each. Intended for the construction of road bridge decks, they had to meet strict technical requirements in terms of mechanical strength and stability during transport. Thanks to precise coordination between the various parties involved, this logistical operation was successfully completed.
A project supported by VNF and the PARM scheme
The river transport of these elements was supported financial support from Voies Navigables de France (VNF) via the PARM (Programme d'Aide au Report Modal). This initiative aims to encourage manufacturers to use river transport to reduce the carbon footprint of their activities. Thibaud Gobert, Eloi Flipo, Olivier Dehouck and Bertrand Neveux from VNF Cargo provided invaluable support throughout the operation.
A strong commitment to modal shift
This exceptional delivery is a perfect illustration of Volta Transport to offer solutions tailored to large-scale projects requiring a tailor-made logistics approach. By favoring river freight, this project contributes directly to reducing CO₂ emissions and limiting road nuisance, in line with the ecological ambitions of the Seine-Nord Europe Canal.
