Les Granulats du Groupe CB strengthen dialogue with elected officials in the Terre des 2 Caps region
Sharing, explaining, and listening: an afternoon of meaningful dialogue to raise awareness of Carrières du Boulonnais’ activities and commitments to the local community.
Transparency, dialogue, and insight into our operations: les Granulats du Groupe CB brought together elected officials from the Communauté de Communes de la Terre des 2 Caps to discuss the challenges, projects, and commitments of the CB Group, its Aggregates division, and, more specifically, Carrières du Boulonnais. The meeting was marked by a spirit of collaboration and trust and was followed by a tour of the Ferques quarry.
Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the Espace Interm@de in Marquise, the CB Group Aggregates hosted elected officials from the municipalities of the Terre des 2 Caps Community of Communes for an informational and discussion meeting focused on the activities of the Boulonnais Quarries.
An industrial player with deep roots in its local community
Led by several company executives, this afternoon’s event provided an opportunity to present the realities of the mining industry, the environmental challenges associated with it, and the projects shaping the future of the Ferques site. To open the event, Thibaut Poulain, CEO of the CB Group, and Ludovic Poulain, Deputy CEO, reviewed the history of the CB Group, its family roots spanning five generations, and outlined its structure, markets, and challenges, as well as its commitment to sustainable development in service of local communities.
Gaining a Better Understanding of Ferques' Career and His Role in the Region
The elected officials then learned about the key figures and outlook for Carrières du Boulonnais through presentations by Jean-Bernard Cazes, Director of Carrières du Boulonnais Operations; Vincent Westelynck, Director of the Ferques site; Lucie Averlant, Environmental Manager; Hélène Buridant, Director of Logistics Development; Christophe Binsse, Director of Quality and Strategic Projects; Fabien Saligot, Group Communications Manager; and Arnaud Hamelin, Geologist.
Throughout the presentations, there were numerous and constructive discussions with the elected officials. Questions regarding the environment, water management, nuisances, plans for the site’s development, biodiversity, and transportation: this meeting provided an opportunity to address head-on the issues affecting the region and its residents, in a spirit of open dialogue and transparency.
Maintaining an ongoing dialogue with local communities
Beyond simply providing information, this initiative illustrates Granulats du Groupe CB’s commitment to fostering a lasting relationship of trust with local communities. As a long-standing economic player in the region, the company views these opportunities for dialogue as essential for sharing its commitments, addressing questions, and building the future in consultation with local stakeholders.
The day continued with a field trip to visit industrial tourism tour that allowed participants to explore the Ferques quarry firsthand, along with its facilities, the trades practiced there, and its commitments. This hands-on experience also highlighted the initiatives carried out as part of the Transmanche Geopark, of which the Ferques site is one of the iconic geosites. It was an opportunity for elected officials to gain a fresh perspective on this unique industrial and geological heritage, in the heart of the Land of the Two Capes.
