Quentin CHIVET, Work-study student

What was your career path that led you to join Groupe CB?

  • Before my BTS Diploma, I had started a maths preparatory course: too abstract for me, I left after 4 months to start again on a more concrete course.
  • BTS CPI Industrial Product Design. In 1st year, 6-week internship with the Groupe CB. At the end of this internship, I said to myself "I want to work there".
  • Bachelor's degree in Valenciennes - work-study program as a CAD/CAM project manager - in another company because I started too late. I learned a lot about software, but there was less atmosphere, more repetitive activities and less responsibility than at CB.
  • Return to Granulats on a 2-year work-study program as part of an Insset Master's degree at Saint Quentin - Master's degree in Numerical Mechanics and Design)
  • 1-year fixed-term contract with Granulat following my work-study programme
  • permanent contract in October 2022 as a business engineer at Granulats

What did you appreciate most about your work-study program at CB?

  • the family atmosphere, simple, straightforward relations
  • the fact that we're working on a variety of projects, covering a wide range of subjects, which is very enriching
  • example: I took part in a major rail loading installation: striking in its scale and the involvement of many trades, it was a great learning experience (visuals of projects in which you took part, shown during his talk).
  • relationship with his tutor, Olivier Tronnet. I already knew him, and the atmosphere was good. Management: my manager trusts me, doesn't check what I'm doing all the time, and gives me a lot of autonomy on the project side, which is great.

What would you tell a young person about the Groupe CB's work-study program?

  • hands-on work. I learned a lot more on the job. For me, work-study was the ideal formula for my career plan.
  • it's also the best way to discover the company from the inside, learn how to communicate with others, work in project management, etc.
  • It also enabled me to build up a professional network with outside companies, something I'd never have been able to do otherwise.
